FORD PHOTOGRAPHY PRESENTS CINEMA AT THE FIGGE: “Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell”
SEPTEMBER 28th

Arthur+Russell+arthurrussell b&w

“Wild Combination” is director Matt Wolf’s visually absorbing portrait of the Iowa-born, seminal avant-garde composer, singer-songwriter, cellist and disco producer Arthur Russell.  Before his untimely death from AIDS in 1992, Arthur prolifically created music that spanned both pop and the transcendent possibilities of abstract art.  Wolf incorporates rare archival footage and commentary from Arthur’s family, friends, and closest collaborators-including Philip Glass and Allen Ginsberg – to tell this poignant and important story.”

ALL SENSES PRESENTS: DEAD RIDER
ROZZ TOX: ROCK ISLAND ILLINOIS
SEPTEMBER 29th

DeadRider-3-Piece b&wTodd Rittmann has been around Chicago forever, at the forefront of the fringes, in various outfits — though he is best known for his influential work with U.S. Maple. Now Rittmann is four albums deep with Dead Rider, and though he cites the band’s roots as being in classic rock and R&B, the band is still deeply weird — a fascinating balance of highbrow and the decidedly lowbrow, making albums that enrapture and repel in the same measure.
